The Ypsilanti Area Dancers (YAD) is a dance company comprised of dancers from Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor and surrounding areas who are accepted by auditions. The dancers range in age from 7 through 18. Each year guests are invited to perform with the company. Since 1969, YAD has accomplished much, including participation in many local festivals and a trip to Spain in 1985. Over the years many ballets have been performed by local talent including: “Peter and the Wolf,” “The Little Match Girl,” “Hansel and Gretel,” “LaBoutique Fantasque,” “Graduation Ball” and of course, the ever popular “Nutcracker". Currently, Heidi Vitso serves as YAD's Artistic Director with Sara Randazzo, Laura McCarthy, Roya Panahi and Gail Choate-Petti serving as the Director's Assistants.
